Spanish Master Drawings from Dutch Public Collections (1500-1900) offers a unique overview of all the Spanish drawings currently housed in Dutch public institutions. The more than fifty drawings by Spanish artists originate from the collections of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the Printroom of Leiden University, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, and the Collection Frits Lugt in Paris.
For the first time, these drawings have all been brought together, documented and researched. This has led to remarkable new insights and conclusions relative to this hitherto little-explored area of Dutch art collections.
