Wiel Arets AZL Heerlen

Wiel Arets made the extension that assimilates the existing AZL building from 1941. The lion's share of the new - build construction consists of an elongated facilities block hovering above an expanse of concrete. It is a link between two office wings set square to it round a severely ordered courtyard . While the building is sleek and sharply detailed, with glass, steel and concrete as building materials, the effect of the lighting and orchestrated circulation routes and shifts is by constrast dynamic.
